History: Grew up in a kinfolk village near the Sept. After first changing was trained as a Black Fury, but to everyone's surprise Pegasus said no. Which led to his mum dragging him to every Theurge in Greece demanding to know WHY? MY DAUGHTER IS THE MOST BLACK FURY until they finally met Artemis, a BF Theurge who herself was mtf. She figured out that the issue was probably to do with the daughter being a dude, actually, and she ended up being right. Half out of conviction and half out of teenage rebellion he picked Get of Fenris as a replacement tribe. Eventually they sent him [away; depending on version either to Denver, America or to the Midlands, UK] to figure himself out in a new place where nobody knew him (and his mum couldn't interfere).

In America, he ended up hanging out with a group of other Cliath at the Relentless Beat Sept for a while - Ren, Hunter and Johan who were a pack, Ahmed who wasn't, and himself - and eventually was invited to join a pack ( the Canyon Runners) at a newly formed neighbouring Sept he had helped take back from the Spirals, Shambala, which has a strong Black Fury slant. He's 18.

In the Midlands, he ended up in a Silver Fang and Get Sept and was invited into the Flat Mountain pack. He's 20.

Since he's actually explained his thought process in a thread, let me quote (with the disclaimer that he gave this explanation about two years after making the decision):

There's not that many options, really. I'm not a city kid [ruling out Glass Walkers and Bone Gnawers] not a noble, not a lupus, and European [ruling out Silver Fangs, Red Talons, Uktena and Wendigo] and honestly not particularly interested in people who think that peace and balance is the answer to everything [ruling out Children of Gaia and Stargazers]. I quite frankly don't get why anyone would want to be a Silent Strider.

So that left Shadow Lords, Get of Fenris and Fianna. I'm not shady enough to be a Shadow Lord [it's a bad pun, and not very original, but it gets the point across well] - no offence, one of my packmates is one and he's fine, but their way of life is just not mine. So that leaves the Get and the Fianna and really, a tribe that has shagging as one of their core values... [It's probably not hard to infer Sam's issues with that.]

And elimination method aside, [he grins] you gotta appreciate a tribe that understand the value of a good fight. And advocates kicking people in the balls until they respect you.

Honestly, in many ways the Black Furies and the Get of Fenris aren't all that different. Just two sides of the same coin. A bit like Glass Walkers and Bone Gnawers, or Silver Fangs and Shadow Lords, just... wait, let me [he digs around his pockets until he can produce a 2 pound coin] okay so like [he holds the coin so that the flat of it is up] if this is Walkers and Gnawers, and this [he holds it so that the flat of it faces Rowan] is Lords and Fangs, then this [and now he holds the coin so that the rim faces Rowan] is Get and Furies.

That said, oocly? Sam obviously didn't make his choice in a perfectly informed vacuum. The tribes that he did indeed rule flat out were the ones that weren't options to begin with - Silver Fangs, Uktena, Wendigo, Red Talons - and the two city dwelling tribes, because wilderness was a must (and then he ended up in England, but sometimes you have to jump on opportunities that aren't ideal). He never actually thought about the Silent Striders or Stargazers.

So the tribes that were on the table were Fianna, Get of Fenris, Children of Gaia, and Shadow Lords. Most people who pitched in or tried to pitch in recommended CoG, which to the upset teenager was half a good reason to not pick that tribe. The main reason, though, is in fact the one he names - when choosing between the core values of martial prowess or equality, he immediately fell off the martial side of the horse. Now the Get was obviously the tribe most people advising him spoke out against, which... circling back to angry teenage rebellion. From what he heard about the Fianna they just didn't seem serious enough about the important things to him, and the Shadow Lords didn't seem trustworthy enough about anything at all.

Would he have gone for CoG if he'd had more time and wasn't as hurt? Maybe. Who knows.

Penelope Raises-Mountains, Galliard, alpha of the Rolling Earth pack (Volcano), recently Athro. Her husband died when Sam was nine, he's her only child. Two packmates, also Black Furies: Xenia, Homid Theurge, the wine mum and voice of calm, and a Lupus Ragabash. Their pack formed when they were Fostern, they were parts of different packs before that, and they have been together since. The pack used to be bigger, they've had members not survive. Sam grew up with them around, Xenia lived in the same house as them.

Penelope is protecc, attacc, stern look. She is stubborn like Beau and has similarities with Liliths attitude towards social politics. She is the kind of person who teaches you to swim and them chucks you in the ocean. She's the parent who won't call the university library for your late dues but will come to personally yell at the lecturer if he fails you while you're in hospital.

She wants daily updates from Sam not because she wants to control him but because she's lost people before and doesn't want to live knowing that she hadn't talked to him recently or knew what was important to him and what he was up to etc if he did go before her. Or the other way around. She's very proud of him but also has high expectations. Also her and Sam are pretty similar, apple didn't fall far from the tree: high rage, physical primary. Not a lot of book smarts, but can think fast on her feet.

While I'm at it: Artemis, the transwoman Theurge who twigged as to why Sam wasn't accepted. I don't have a lot on her, just that she's very well connected among the queer Garou in Greece and among the trans Garou worldwide (doesn't know everyone obviously but probably by no more than two degrees of separation she does). Social primary.
